What is the Temporary Business (Long Stay) Visa?

Businesses unable to recruit the trade skills needed for their industry
from the local labour market can explore the option of sponsoring
overseas workers on a temporary basis, from between three months
to four years. This is one of the most commonly used visa programs
for both Australian and International businesses to sponsor overseas
workers for employment on a temporary basis.

 

Is your business eligible?

To recruit and employ skilled people under the Temporary Business Long Stay Visa you must:

 

  • Be a lawfully and actively an operating business

  • Be the direct employer

  • Have a sound business record and abide by immigration laws

  • Be able to demonstrate how the employment will bring economic benefits to Australia

What is the process for applying?

The Temporary Business (Long Stay) Visa (subclass 457) application process involves three distinct stages:

 

  • Stage 1 – The employer applies for business sponsorship

  • Stage 2 – The employer nominates the position to be filled

  • Stage 3 – The visa applicant lodges a visa application
