Worker Selection
Heron Assist advises our overseas agents via our 24-hour intranet system of vacancies as soon as they are registered with us by Australian employers. In most cases the skills and qualifications of candidates registered with each agent have been pre-verified in person by Heron Assist. Our Industry experts travel to the location in question and trade-test each candidate against Australian industry standards.
In addition, many companies choose, with our active support, to send their own company experts to trade-test the candidates before final selection.
In some cases where trade testing has not occurred Heron Assist supplies a comprehensive resume, a video of the worker on the job, and provides the employer with an interpreter-assisted telephone interview with the candidate to verify skills.
Heron Assist lodge VISA applications as soon as all the necessary information is provided by the employer and the candidate. The time required for the processing of VISA applications by the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs(DIMA) can vary. Heron Assist provides an estimate of the expected application processing time at the time of application.
Placement & Arrival
Once the Australian employer has selected a worker and when the migration processes is complete (as outlined below), Heron Assist provides the following arrival and settlement services:
- A Heron Assist interpreter meets the arriving worker at the airport
- The worker is escorted to arranged accommodation
- The interpreter assists the worker in opening bank accounts and obtaining the necessary Tax File Number from the ATO
- The interpreter escorts the worker to the workplace
- If necessary, the interpreter provides translation services in the workplace to assist with induction and safety procedures and to facilitate initial workplace communication.
