There are 3 steps in the application process associated with the recruitment of overseas staff. At Heron Assist Migration, our staff provide comprehensive assistance in all stages of the application process.
1. Sponsorship
Employers wishing to recruit staff from overseas need to seek approval as a business sponsor. To apply for approval as a business sponsor employers must provide information that:
- Shows their business is of good standing
- Explains how Australia benefits from their business employing overseas personnel
- Demonstrates the commitment of their business to training Australian residents or introducing new technology or business skills.
Employers must also meet a number of undertakings in relation to the sponsored employee. Contact Heron Assist for further information on the requirements for approval as a business sponsor.
2. Nomination
Employers need to nominate each of the positions they wish to fill with an overseas employee. The nomination must relate to an occupation which meets a minimum skills threshold covering managerial, professional, associate professional or trade occupations. The nominated position must also be remunerated at a minimum salary level, specified in a Gazette Notice.
3. Visa Application
The person identified to fill the nominated vacancy must apply for a visa to enter or remain in Australia. They will need to demonstrate that they have skills that match the nominated vacancy and must be offered employment at a salary level that is not less than the salary indicated in the nomination application.
