Initial Assessments
An Initial Assessment is an examination of the history of injury, current medical situation, education, employment history, work place, duties and family/social factors, in order to identify the barriers preventing return to work. The Initial Assessment aims to establish a management strategy for achieving a return to work outcome, as well as satisfying the employee’s rehabilitation
needs.
Activities may include:

Meeting with the employer and employee

Consultations with the doctor and professionals

Workplace visits to identify/negotiate suitable duties, and

The development of a return to work plan.
